Port of Galveston Cruise Terminal

Project Summary

Holes Incorporated was contracted by Texas Gulf Construction to support the Port of Galveston’s Terminal 25 improvement project in preparation for the arrival of Carnival Jubilee. The team cut, drilled, wire sawed, slab sawed, and removed approximately 1.3 million pounds of concrete pier decking and pilings while protecting the integrity of the remaining structure. Work was completed over open water in an active cruise and cargo port, requiring careful safety planning, environmental protection, security coordination, and precise crane-assisted removal methods. Despite challenging site conditions and a tight schedule, Holes completed the project on time and helped strengthen the terminal for expanded cruise operations.

Challenges included site constraints, commercial slip traffic, extreme heat, weekly ship calls to accommodate ongoing cruise ship operations, communication with underwater dive teams, and a tight project timeline.
